We have an exciting, temporary opportunity to join our Research and Development team at our Haverhill manufacturing site as an R&D Scientist.

This is an exciting opportunity to gain hands-on experience across a broad range of R&D activities, including analytical chemistry, formulation development, process development, and spray drying. Working within a collaborative and innovative environment, you will support the development of active pharmaceutical ingredients (APIs), drug products, and enabling technologies.

We are seeking a motivated and flexible scientist who enjoys solving technical challenges, is keen to learn, and thrives when working as part of a team.

Your Responsibilities

You will:

• Support the development of new pharmaceutical products and manufacturing processes across a range of R&D projects.

• Conduct analytical testing of APIs, intermediates, raw materials, and drug products using techniques such as HPLC, GC, FT-IR, UV-Vis, Karl Fischer, and other analytical methods.

• Assist in the development, optimisation, and transfer of analytical methods under the guidance of experienced scientists.

• Contribute to formulation and process development activities, including spray drying and other particle engineering technologies.

• Generate high-quality experimental records, technical reports, and scientific documentation.

• Analyse and interpret experimental data to support project objectives and decision-making.

• Collaborate with colleagues across R&D, Quality, Manufacturing, and Project Management teams.

• Maintain laboratory equipment and ensure work is performed in accordance with applicable quality, safety, and regulatory requirements.

• Develop technical knowledge and expertise through training and practical experience across multiple scientific disciplines.

Our Requirements

• BSc, MSc, or PhD in Chemistry, Pharmaceutical Sciences, Chemical Engineering, Materials Science, or a related scientific discipline.

• A strong interest in pharmaceutical development, analytical chemistry, and process development.

• Excellent problem-solving skills and a willingness to learn new techniques and technologies.

• Strong attention to detail and the ability to accurately record and communicate scientific data.

• Good communication and teamwork skills.

• A flexible and proactive approach, with the ability to work across a variety of projects and technical disciplines.

• Previous laboratory experience would be advantageous but is not essential.
