Join our Maintenance team as a Multiskilled Mechanical & Electrical Maintenance Technician at our Haverhill manufacturing site to play a key role in ensuring reliable, compliant manufacturing operations at our Haverhill site.
The position is responsible for maintaining production facilities, utilities, and process equipment to the standards required to meet output targets and uphold safe, efficient performance in a GMP‑regulated environment.
You will provide high-quality mechanical, electrical, and occasional instrumentation support, completing both corrective and preventive maintenance tasks to reduce downtime and enhance overall plant performance.
This role operates on a rotating day-shift schedule (06:00–14:15 and 13:45–22:00) and requires participation in a weekend and bank‑holiday call‑out rota.
Your Responsibilities
Safety, Quality & Compliance:
· Ensure full adherence to GMP, site safety standards, quality systems, and validation requirements at all times.
· Follow all safe systems of work, including Lock Out/Tag Out (LOTO), permit-to-work procedures, and risk assessments.
· Promote and maintain a strong Quality, Health, Safety & Environmental (QHSE) culture.
Maintenance & Engineering Support:
· Perform mechanical and electrical fault diagnosis, troubleshooting, and repair on a wide range of industrial and process equipment.
· Strip down, repair, and rebuild equipment to component level, including (but not limited to) rotating pumps, diaphragm pumps, vacuum pumps, and various valve types (globe, gate, butterfly, diaphragm).
· Support machining and fabrication activities (lathe, milling, MIG/TIG/Stick welding, brazing) where competent.
· Work on industrial electrical systems including motors, controls, sensors, and associated equipment.
· Provide support with instrumentation tasks where trained, contributing to calibration, fault finding, and loop checking.
· Service, test, and record maintenance activities on pressure relief valves.
· Read, understand, and interpret engineering documentation such as P&IDs, OEM manuals, wiring diagrams, loop diagrams, and technical drawings.
· Use experience and initiative to reduce equipment downtime and maintenance costs while improving asset reliability.
· Take ownership of work orders, ensuring accurate documentation and timely closure.
Continuous Improvement & Collaboration:
· Actively participate in team meetings, contributing to discussions on safety, quality, planning, and cost reduction.
· Identify opportunities for better working practices, improved reliability, and increased asset uptime.
· Demonstrate strong initiative, working independently when required and seeking solutions to complex problems.
· Develop proficiency in sourcing, interpreting, and applying engineering documentation and processes.
Our Requirements
· Completion of an apprenticeship in mechanical or electrical engineering with a City ad Guilds or NVQ Certificate Level 3
· Competent in maintenance of facilities, process equipment and utilities. Skilled at fault diagnosis and problem solving.
· Basic English language skills (written, spoken, and reading) are essential.
· Understanding of hazardous environments, including ATEX or similar controlled conditions.
· Competence in mechanical and electrical maintenance activities with willingness to develop instrumentation capability.
· Ability to work effectively both independently and within a team.
